When a designer goes high concept with a line of clothing, the outcome is usually ridiculous-looking or ridiculously uncomfortable. I mean, who actually wants to wear something that’s inspired “by the tension between organic and technological forces?†You do. Because Nina Valenti’s line called Nature vs Future cleverly balances concept with function, adding up to a line of mind-bogglingly modern, yet classic pieces of clothing. The Brooklyn-bred designer befittingly fuses organics– such as hemp and bamboo– with synthetics– like Lycra and polyethylene– in pieces that are all at once architectural, sexy, minimal and in good taste. Although the line has only been around for three years, it’s captured the attention of the media and celebrities, appearing in Lucky and the New York Post, and on Tina Fey and Deborah Harry, to name a few. “There is a breed of independent, talented, strong and beautiful women that want to be taken seriously,†says Valenti. “These are the women that really love Nature vs Future.†Available in several locations in New York and across the country.
