Kanye West sparked buzz among fashion fans after making a bold comparison about his Yeezy brand.
On Friday, August 14, one day after releasing multiple colorways of the YS-01 Slides—which quickly sold out—Ye took to social media to compare his clothing company to Apple.
“Yeezy is Apple of clothing,” the rapper wrote on X.
He also shared a screenshot showing that the brand’s website had been updated with a sleek black-and-white design, along with an image of a rack displaying Yeezy jackets.

Kanye West Declares Yeezy As 'Apple Of Clothing'
But the father of four wasn’t finished making big claims about the brand. On August 17, he followed up with another post, writing, “No matter how big any fashion brand is, there’s no brand other than Yeezy that can bring out 120,000 people a night.”
His comments quickly sparked reactions across social media, with people debating whether Yeezy has reached the level of cultural influence Kanye claims.
“Everybody wants to hate on Kanye, but at least he has the strength and the courage to speak his mind,” one person wrote.
Another joked, “Ye is the Apple of rappers.”
Someone else pushed back, writing, “Everyone has an iPhone. You make clothes for a small subset of the population.”
Other commenters praised the brand, with one saying, “True, it fits great and looks clean.”
One user added, "What a legend."
Some fans, however, used the opportunity to criticize Yeezy’s customer service.
“Apple would have shipped my slides by now. It’s been almost 4 months,” one person wrote.
Another complained, “Then where is my order? I got one item out of 3 that I ordered in November of 2025.”

Kanye West’s Yeezy History
Yeezy is the fashion and footwear brand created by West, also known as Ye. The label grew out of West’s early design experiments and eventually became one of the biggest celebrity-driven fashion ventures in the world.
The 49-year-old first explored sneaker design in the mid-2000s, including an unreleased sneaker created for Reebok in 2006. He later collaborated with Louis Vuitton on a luxury sneaker collection in 2009 before partnering with Nike to launch the Air Yeezy 1 that same year and the Air Yeezy 2 in 2012.
The limited-edition sneakers generated enormous demand and helped establish West as a major force in sneaker culture. He ultimately left Nike in 2013, citing disagreements over royalties and creative control.
That same year, Adidas announced a major partnership with the "Stronger" hitmaker, giving him significant creative freedom and royalty opportunities. The collaboration transformed Yeezy into a multibillion-dollar business.
However, the partnership came to an end in October 2022, when Adidas terminated its contract with West following his controversial public remarks.
Since then, Yeezy has continued operating independently through its direct-to-consumer online channels. Today, the brand sells minimalist streetwear and footwear, including the YS-01 foam slides, minimalist sneakers, Yeezy Pods and casual apparel such as T-shirts and pants.
With the latest YS-01 release selling out quickly, Kim Kardashian's ex appears determined to position Yeezy as more than just another celebrity fashion label—and his latest Apple comparison suggests he sees the brand as a cultural force on an entirely different level.
