Meghan Markle sparked a wave of online reactions after meeting Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai for afternoon tea and conversation at Claridge’s hotel in London on October 7.
While the pair gathered at The Foyer & Reading Room in the upscale Mayfair neighborhood, Meghan’s latest fashion choice quickly became a talking point among royal watchers.
Known for her minimalist approach to fashion and preference for neutral tones, the former actress opted for a quiet-luxury look featuring several high-end designer pieces (see the photos here). However, some critics felt the oversized silhouette was unflattering, arguing that the loose-fitting garments overwhelmed her frame.

Meghan Markle Slammed Over 'Ill-Fitting' Outfit With Malala Yousafzai
For the outing, the mom of two wore an ivory cashmere sweater by Co, paired with flowing white wide-leg palazzo trousers from Ralph Lauren. She completed the ensemble with a brown shawl-style coat by Tove Studio, draped over her shoulders, and camel-colored pointed-toe flats by Saint Laurent.
The Duchess of Sussex accessorized with a black quilted Chanel camera bag and a patterned tote. The overall look reportedly cost approximately $37K.
Despite the luxury labels, some online commenters were less than impressed with the outfit, particularly the length and fit of Meghan’s trousers.

Critics React
“This outfit is crazy. Who let her out of the house in that? Not flattering,” one Reddit user wrote.
“She NEVER wears the correct hem length,” another commented.
A third critic added, “Her clothes are always so ill-fitting. She needs to dress for her height.”
Others compared the outfit to a costume, with one person asking, “Isn't this a Jedi costume for Halloween?”
“It’s a terrible outfit. No ifs or buts!” another commenter declared.
Some also questioned the practicality of the long trousers, with one user remarking, “The way her trousers sweep all over that dirty pavement.”
Another suggested the fashion choice was deliberate, writing, “She must be doing this on purpose, no other reason she’d dress like that.”

Meghan Catches Up With Friends In The U.K.
The London outing marked Markle’s first public appearance in the city since moving back to the U.K. with Prince Harry and their two children, seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet, on August 26.
According to a source who spoke to PEOPLE, Meghan’s meeting with Yousafzai was a casual opportunity for the two friends to reconnect.
“It was a chance for a catch-up between friends,” the source said.
Meghan was also spotted in September enjoying an afternoon outing with longtime friends and former Montecito neighbors Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. The group visited The Three Horseshoes, an 18th-century pub near Burford in Oxfordshire, on September 21.
