Gavin Newsom Blows Whistle On Jared Kushner's Involvement In Russia-Ukraine Negotiations

Newsom took to social media to raise awareness about Jared Kushner's inappropriate seat at the negotiation table. "Why the hell is Jared Kushner negotiating anything on behalf of the United States?" Newsom posted on X. "He’s a private citizen."

A follow up tweet reads, "Imagine if President Joe Biden sent Hunter Biden — a private citizen — to negotiate a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. Fox News would have a TOTAL MELTDOWN!"

This comes after Kushner and Steve Witkoff, Trump's official special envoy, met with both Russian President President Vladimir Putin in Moscow and then with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv. Trump has described the pair as being responsible for major parts of the US peace effort.

While Jared Kushner was Senior Advisor to President Trump during his first administration, he and his wife Ivanka Trump chose not to participate in Trump's official political circle this time around.

Social Media Reactions

Across social media platforms, users praised Newsom for calling out the inappropriateness of the situation while simultaneously questioning the legality of it overall. "The administration in the US is cooked!" one person wrote on Instagram. "No where else does this happen!"

"It is a felony for a private citizen to negotiate with foreign officials in a dispute with the U.S. or to undermine U.S. policy," another person pointed out.

"Corruption, corruption, corruption," a third posted.

"We are living in lawlessness," another user agreed.

"So agree!" said the next. "I ask that same question to myself all the time! He does not represent the American people."

"Good question...nobody can control the Trump administration anymore," a final user wrote.
