Blake Lively took a moment to pay tribute to late actress Hayden Panettiere as well as Michelle Trachtenberg, but it did not get the response she might’ve been expecting.
The Gossip Girl actress shared an Instagram story where she asked her fans and followers to “be kind” to others following the recent and unexpected deaths of both performers. With a message telling people that you never know what someone else is going through, social media users felt there was subtext there, asking people to have sympathy for her following her latest legal drama with It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni. Additionally, others felt her post was ironic, given she’s received numerous allegations of being a ‘mean girl’ in recent years. Read more about her tribute and how the internet reacted to it below.

Blake Lively Posts Tribute In Honor Of Hayden Panettiere
One of the most shocking and rattling celebrity news stories of the last week has been the loss of Hayden Panettiere, the actress well known for her prominent roles in Nashville, Heroes, Bring It On, and more.
She also had a leading role in the Disney film Ice Princess, alongside Michelle Trachtenberg, another actress who passed away in her late 30s last year. Hayden was 36, and numerous celebrities online have been grieving her loss, expressing sympathy for her loved ones and bringing up the sensitive discussion surrounding her battle with addiction and postpartum depression.
One of those celebrities was the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star, who took to her Instagram story to share a tribute for both the Neutrogena spokeswoman and her former Gossip Girl co-star, reposting a compilation of clips from Ice Princess.
"Be. Kind. You never know what others are going through," she wrote. "Thank you to both these women for all the joy you brought so many."

Social Media Users React To Blake's Story & Share Criticisms Following Her Legal Drama
After her story was shared, it didn't take long for the Blake Brown Beauty founder's Instagram story to go viral, as her fans and other social media users had a wide range of mixed reactions.
Though some thought her post was appropriate and sweet, others weren't buying it and felt that it wasn't very sincere. There were other users who felt that her message of "be kind" was one she subtly wanted to share about her current situation, as her reputation took a major hit following the back-and-forth lawsuits between her and her It Ends With Us co-star and director, Justin Baldoni. In the suits and on social media, she was accused of creating a smear campaign against Baldoni and vice versa, as well as creating a toxic environment on set.
On platforms from Facebook to Instagram, users shared their thoughts in comment sections.
"Hopefully Ms Lively will finally practice what she preaches," wrote a Facebook user.
"Coming from the most heartless person alive!" wrote another.
One user accused her of trying to "clean up her reputation," adding, "she looks more like a joke than ever."
"Using the death of someone she hasn't even worked with (Hayden) to remind people to be kind after dragging Justin Baldoni through the mud with lies for the last year and a half," commented a Reddit user. "She is delusional."
"Be kind?" asked another. "You first, girl."
