Kai Trump showed off her effortlessly casual style during a recent back-to-school shopping trip with her mom, Vanessa Trump, as she prepared to begin her freshman year of college.
The 19-year-old documented the shopping trip in a vlog shared on her Instagram and YouTube accounts. In the video, she was seen browsing Target in a gray University of Miami sweater featuring green lettering. She paired the collegiate look with a navy baseball cap and matching navy pleated skirt, while Vanessa kept things equally casual in a gray hoodie.

The mother-daughter duo spent hours picking up essentials Kai would need for her new apartment as she prepared for this next chapter. Among the items on their list were bedding, cleaning supplies and other college necessities.
Kai attends the University of Miami, where she began her freshman year this fall. She is also a member of the Miami Hurricanes women’s golf team, competing at the Division I level.
In the caption accompanying her shopping vlog, Kai wrote, “Back-to-school shopping with Mom! We spent HOURS shopping for everything I could possibly need for my apartment and getting ready for this new chapter of college life! So thankful my mom was there to do it all with me. She truly is the BEST mom, and I’m so grateful for her.”
The excitement of starting college was also accompanied by an emotional goodbye for Kai.

Kai Gets Emotional Over Leaving Home For College
During a drive home after playing a round of golf before leaving for Miami, she opened up about how difficult it was to leave behind her familiar routine and the people she loves.
“I’ve been, like, literally sobbing,” Kai said. “It’s just, like, really sad that I have to say goodbye to, like, everyone today. I’m not, like, a very emotional person at all, so this is, like, really weird for me to cry. I’m just struggling right now just, like, thinking about it, but, like, I’m excited.”
Once she arrived in Miami and began settling into college life, Kai’s best friend Emma also helped make the transition a little easier. Emma assisted with the move and even brought groceries so Kai would have food on hand during the hectic process.
“Emma got me some frozen foods because I haven't eaten in like three days,” Kai said in the video.
Between the shopping trip with her mom, an emotional farewell and settling into her new apartment, Kai’s vlog offered a glimpse into the excitement—and nerves—that came with starting this new chapter.
