While Christina Aguilera delivered a powerful live rendition of Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” at the grand opening ceremony of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago in June, fans are still talking about the stunning dress she wore during a behind-the-scenes moment from the special day.
On June 22, the singer shared a series of photos from the event, including moments where she met former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama.
In one photo, the singer posed alongside the couple in a striking teal-blue dress featuring a low-cut, draped neckline. She paired the look with black heeled sandals, a diamond necklace and her blonde hair styled down with a center part.

For her actual performance, the 45-year-old changed into an equally glamorous ensemble: a semi-sheer light-gray Prabal Gurung gown with a fitted mermaid silhouette and dramatic train. She kept her accessories understated, opting for delicate silver jewelry and a simple silver ring.
In the caption, Aguilera explained how meaningful the performance was to her.
“When President Obama suggested I sing ‘What a Wonderful World,’ I was immediately inspired,” she wrote. “Its message of hope, love, and possibility has always resonated with me, and I was honored to perform at such a joyful and memorable occasion.”
Barack Obama also took a moment to respond in the comments, writing, “Your rendition of ‘What a Wonderful World’ was beautiful. Thank you for joining us!”

Aguilera may have delivered a powerful performance, but she seemed to be a little nervous about singing the song in front of such a major audience.
While introducing the artist, Obama Foundation CEO Valerie Jarrett revealed that the singer had never performed the song publicly before.
“When we asked her to sing one of President Obama’s favorite songs, she told us, ‘Well, uh, I’ve never sung it in public before,’” Jarrett said. “But she came up with a new arrangement just for this occasion, and we are so grateful.”
The mom of two was one of several major performers who took the stage during the celebration. The star-studded lineup also included Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Bruce Springsteen, U2’s Bono and The Edge, Marc Anthony, Tems, Common, Eddie Vedder, Marsai Martin and The Roots.
