Your iPhone is equipped with several settings that, maybe unbeknownst to you, can actually reduce battery usage and prolong the life of your pricey device. But the first step in taking advantage of them is actually being acquainted with them. These settings are so simple to enable (really taking nothing more than minutes out of your day) and you’ll be shocked at how much longer your battery will run as a result. Harriet Chan, co-founder of CocoFinder, spoke with SHEFinds.com about three settings you didn’t know could save your battery and make your iPhone last longer.

You don’t have to be content with the settings your phone is set to when you bring it home from the Apple store. You can easily adjust them — and within minutes will boost your phone’s battery power and help keep it in great condition.

Dim Your iPhone Screen

“Dimming the iPhone screen is a good battery remedy because putting it on full brightness drains the battery,” Chan says. “Auto brightness may work for most people, but it is still a battery drainer through the light sensor. The best way to save charge is by adjusting the settings manually to the lowest visible level every time there is a change in lighting levels.”

Choose A Dark Theme

“Choose a dark theme for your smartphone to reduce the strain on energy pixels as they use a lot of phone charge,” Chan says. “Darker colors use less energy compared to brighter colors. Phone themes are by default installed in the phone, and one can adjust by going to settings, then tap Display and Brightness, and Select Dark to turn on Dark Mode.”

Turn On Low Power Mode

“Save battery life on your iPhone by turning on Low Power Mode,” Chan says. “This mode is a battery lifesaver, especially when running low on battery charge and can’t find a charging spot. Yes, you might experience low performance, but better battery life is a good trade-off. Turn this feature on by heading to Settings, navigate and tap on Battery, then toggle Low Power Mode On.”
