Oma's Pride Pet Food Recalled for Possible Salmonella Contamination

This recall issued by Oma's Pride pertains specifically to six-pound bags of Woof Complete Canine Chicken Recipe with lot number BB012729, UPC 8 7938400145 9, and best-by date 1/27/2029.

These bags of frozen food were sold in stores between February 12, 2026 and May 15, 2026 in Arizona, California, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

The product was tested for Salmonella following customer complaints. If you are in possession of the recalled food, it's important to stop feeding the product to your pet immediately. You should dispose of it carefully so as not to spread the pathogen to pets or people. Additionally, make sure to wash any surface (such as pet bowls) that the food has touched to avoid cross-contamination.

Salmonella Poisoning in Pets

If your pet has consumed the recalled food, the FDA states that you should contact your veterinarian immediately, as your pet may be carrying the pathogen while appearing perfectly healthy. That being said, some common symptoms of salmonella poisoning in dogs include fever, lethargy, decreased in appetite, vomiting and diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

Additionally, it's not a bad idea to monitor your own health, as salmonella can spread through contact with the recall food even if you did not consume it yourself. Keep a lookout for symptoms like diarrhea lasting more than three days, fever, excessive vomiting, and stomach cramps.

Staying on top of recalls like this is an important part of keeping you and your family (including your furry family members!) healthy.

Stay safe!
