Jennifer Lopez is being mocked on social media after saying she used to be a “hopeless romantic” during a new interview promoting her new rom-com, Office Romance, which she stars in alongside Ted Lasso star and rumored ex-boyfriend, Brett Goldstein.
The 56-year-old multi-hyphenate is no stranger to people commenting on her love life – or indeed the things she has said about it. Who can forget the online reactions to a comment she made earlier this year about “finally” feeling “free” following her divorce from Ben Affleck? Now, a comment she made comparing her current outlook on love with the way she used to view it has sparked plenty of online jokes.

Jennifer Lopez Opens Up About Her Views On Love And Romance In New Interview
The Kiss of the Spider Woman actress reflected on how her life experiences have changed the way she approaches romantic comedies during an interview with Thomas Duke for Stepping Through Film.
When asked whether she approached making rom-coms differently today than she did 25 years ago, she replied: "I think so, very much so, and it's because I've changed, and my understanding of love and relationships have changed."
She continued: "I think I was prone to, like, you're drawn to certain things at certain times because of who you are and what you're learning and where you're at in your life."

"Back then I was this hopeless romantic, and now this one is kind of an adult romantic comedy about two workaholics who have kind of closed themselves off to the world and to love, and they have to kind of overcome the things that are their issues to really experience love again," she went on.
"And that's very different than me starting off and hoping that I get married. This is not that type of story or movie," Lopez confirmed.
The "Love Don't Cost a Thing" singer then compared the film to some of her earlier romantic comedies, including The Wedding Planner and Monster-in-Law, explaining: "Oh, you're a different person. You were younger. There was a different type of mentality that I had that is different now. You just grow. You evolve."

Internet Reactions
Social media had mixed reactions – with some people mocking her "hopeless romantic" comment and her love life in general, and others thinking she came across quite well in the interview.
"She almost dated every man in Hollywood lmao," wrote one person on Instagram. "More rings than Thanos," quipped a second, followed by the crying laughing emoji. "Oh brother. Pathetic!" exclaimed a third, adding: "Grow up."
Not everyone felt the same way, however. "She's been very open and vulnerable during this press run," thought a fourth.
"Most relaxed and personable I've ever seen her! Lovely to see this," wrote a fifth. "So basically now recognizing focusing on love and not just getting married. Good for her," added a sixth.
