Meghan Markle‘s latest As Ever promotional video sparked plenty of online discussion—and it wasn’t just because of the basket of “out of season” produce she carried while strolling through her garden.
After some social media users questioned whether the fruits and vegetables shown in the June 23 Instagram reel were in season, eagle-eyed fans shifted their attention to another detail: a blue gemstone ring on Meghan’s finger that many believed resembled the iconic sapphire-and-diamond engagement ring once owned by Princess Diana and now worn by Kate Middleton.

Meghan Markle Accused Of Copying Kate Middleton's Engagement Ring
The unidentified ring also appeared in an Instagram post the mom of two shared on May 11, prompting renewed speculation about its meaning. Some royal watchers have even suggested it could have been an early anniversary gift from Prince Harry, as the couple celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary on May 19.
Kate's famous engagement ring features a 12-carat oval sapphire surrounded by diamonds and originally belonged to Princess Diana before Prince William proposed with it in 2010.
The similarities between Meghan's blue ring and Kate's iconic piece quickly fueled debate online.
"I love Catherine's stack of rings, especially her engagement ring, which is rightfully hers," one commenter wrote on Reddit. "Not like Meghan—she's always changing hers."
Another added, "I love her stack too. She's made that sapphire ring her own, associated with love and mutual respect between Prince William and Catherine. I was surprised when Meghan switched her engagement ring setting so quickly."
Others were more critical, with one person writing, "Well, I hadn't noticed the blue ring. She is such a creepy stalker!"
Another commenter claimed, "The whole concept of jam and As Ever was copying Catherine. It wasn't started out of love for Meghan—it was started out of jealousy." Someone else added, "she's copying Kate."
While neither the former actress nor Prince Harry has commented on the ring, its appearance has become the latest royal fashion detail to spark speculation and comparisons across social media.

Kate Middleton & Meghan Markle's Engagement Rings
The Princess of Wales and Markle both wear engagement rings that pay tribute to the late Princess Diana, but the two designs are distinctly different in both style and origin.
Kate's iconic engagement ring features a 12-carat oval Ceylon (Sri Lankan) sapphire surrounded by a halo of 14 round diamonds set in 18-karat white gold. The ring originally belonged to Princess Diana, who famously selected it from jeweler Garrard's catalog when she became engaged to then-Prince Charles in 1981. Prince William inherited the piece and proposed to Kate with it in 2010. Today, the historic ring is estimated to be worth more than $500K.
The Suits star's engagement ring, meanwhile, was custom-designed by Prince Harry with British jeweler Cleave & Company. At its center is a cushion-cut diamond sourced from Botswana, a country that holds special meaning for the couple. The center stone is flanked by two round diamonds from Princess Diana's personal jewelry collection, allowing Harry to incorporate a sentimental connection to his late mother. The ring originally featured a solid yellow gold band, but Meghan updated it in 2019 with a thinner micro-pavé band and later added a hidden halo of smaller diamonds beneath the center stone. The redesigned ring is estimated to be worth between $260K and $300K.
