King Charles‘ ongoing cancer battle may have played a bigger role in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s shocking decision to return to the UK than people realized.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly preparing to move back to the UK, just weeks after reuniting with King Charles during their July visit. While the Sussexes are said to have several reasons for wanting to return, including giving their children, Archie and Lilibet, more opportunities to connect with their family, speculation continues as people try to figure out the driving force. Now, a royal insider is claiming that Charles’ health is a major factor, suggesting Harry’s desire to spend more time with his father could be behind the family’s return.

Sources Reveal Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Are Moving Back To The UK
After more than six years of living in the U.S., Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly planning to move back to the UK. The couple, who stepped down as senior working royals in 2020, are not expected to permanently relocate and will reportedly keep their expensive Montecito, California, home. Their return comes shortly after Harry, Meghan and their children reunited with Charles at his country home of Highgrove in July.
The move is reportedly about more than simply reconnecting with Harry's family. Sources told Page Six that the Sussexes also want Archie and Lilibet to build stronger relationships with their extended family, with the children expected to attend school in the UK during their time there. The couple also maintains close friendships and family connections across the country, including with Harry's cousin Princess Eugenie and her family.
However, one royal insider claims there could be an even more emotional reason behind Harry and Meghan's decision to return, pointing to the monarch's ongoing cancer battle and Harry's complicated but important relationship with his father.

Royal Insider Claims King Charles' Health & Cancer Battle Is A 'Big' Reason Why They're Moving
While speaking to the above publication, the inside source simply stated, "I know that Charles is a big reason for their return," after the news of the couple's move dropped this week.
King Charles' health has remained a major concern for the royal family and their fans since Buckingham Palace announced his cancer diagnosis in 2024. The 77-year-old monarch has continued carrying out public duties while undergoing treatment for an unspecified type of treatment, and the palace announced in December that he would be transitioning to a 'precautionary phase of treatment.'
The Spare author himself has made it clear that his father's health has been a concern of his. During a BBC interview in May, while discussing his relationship with Charles, the Duke acknowledged his condition and his desire for more reconciled time with him.
"I don't know how much longer my father has," he admitted to the publication.
