Target’s version of Black Friday deals will start sooner than you think–this month!–and includes a brand-new price matching policy that the Minneapolis-based chain has *never* offered before. The juggernaut announced via company press release on September 29th that it would be bringing back its annual “Deal Days” on October 10th (despite supply chain issues), including a new policy that gives customers the right to ask for a price check at any point in the entire holiday shopping season. This is huge! Here’s what you need to know:

Target’s New Price-Matching Policy

Not only is the U.S. retail chain is doubling down on its efforts to get shoppers to check out earlier this holiday season by rolling out their biggest markdowns two weeks early (the event started on November 1st in 2020), but they’re also extending their price-match policy. ICYMI, Target customers have always been able to request a price adjustment on items marked down at competitors like Amazon or Walmart (see the full list of competitors here) within 14 days of purchase.

For the first time ever, the price match guarantee will be extended to the entire holiday season. How it works: Target customers can request a price adjustment on *any* item they’ve purchased at the store, should the price drop later in the holiday shopping season until December 24th. The extension only applies to products that Target themselves have marked down–but still. It gives customers the freedom to get their holiday shopping done early without worrying that prices are going to go down later (which they likely will).

Pro tip: keep your receipts or request a digital copy when you check out at the store, and set a calendar invite for yourself to re-check prices on the Target website in November so you can know if anything you’ve bought has had the price slashed. Cha-ching!

If you recall, the company created the “Deal Days” event in 2019 to compete with Amazon’s Prime Day, and we can’t think of any better way for Target to keep the Seattle-based marketplace on their toes this season. No membership required!
