If you’ve been grilling this summer, you may want to check your grill-cleaning tools. More than 3.6 million Cuisinart metal wire-bristle grill brushes have been recalled after reports that bristles can detach from the brushes and end up on food, creating a serious ingestion hazard, the Consumer Safety Commission reports.
According to the CPSC, Conair has received 54 reports of wire bristles coming loose from the recalled brushes. Three people reportedly swallowed bristles and required medical treatment.
The recall was expanded in August to include about 1.9 million additional brushes, on top of the roughly 1.7 million units recalled in July.

Conair Recalls Grill Brushes for Safety Hazard
The recall covers a variety of Cuisinart metal wire-bristle grill brushes and grilling sets, including models with black plastic, stainless steel and wooden handles. Some of the recalled products include the Triple Bristle Grill Cleaning Brush, 4-in-1 Grill Cleaning Brush, BBQ Grill Cleaning Brush and Scraper, Steam Clean Grill Brush and several multi-piece grilling sets. The brushes were sold at stores including Walmart, Burlington, TJ Maxx and Ross, as well as online through Amazon and Cuisinart.com. They were available from June 2009 through March 2026 for between $8 and $20.
What Should You Do If You Have a Recalled Grill Brush?
The CPSC says consumers should stop using the recalled brushes immediately and throw them away.
Conair is offering consumers a full refund or a Cuisinart.com credit worth the full refund amount plus 20% of the cash value.
