Republicans had a lot to say after hearing rumors that Karoline Leavitt was in “secret talks” to join The View after leaving the White House, with many predicting she would make quite the impression on the show’s current panelists.
It has since been revealed, however, that the wires were somewhat crossed somewhere along the way. The former White House press secretary reportedly wasn’t asked to join the panel long-term, but was instead invited to appear as a one-time guest, according to CNN.

Karoline Leavitt Reportedly Invited To Appear On 'The View' As A One-Time Guest
The ABC talk show's 30th season premieres Tuesday, September 8th. Hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro will all return to the hit program, with recent rumors speculating that previous hosts, including Rosie O'Donnell, could return as guest hosts in celebration of the milestone season.
Leavitt left the White House on August 27th, reportedly choosing to step away from the demanding role to spend more time with her family. The rumors about her future with The View also come at an interesting time for the show, which has reportedly been undergoing budget cuts and "major" downsizing behind the scenes ahead of its milestone 30th season.
A Daily Mail report suggested Leavitt was "in secret talks to join TV's most controversial show," which understandably attracted a lot of attention. However, CNN's Brian Stelter subsequently reported that his ABC source confirmed Leavitt has only been invited as a one-time guest.
"She would not be a guest host on the talk show or join in a more official capacity," Stelter wrote. He added: "All six co-hosts of The View are returning for the new season that begins in September. And while the show occasionally features guest hosts, that's not what the outreach to Leavitt was about, the ABC source said."
In a teaser for Season 30 shared on YouTube, the narrator also promises that viewers will be "surprised" by who joins the hosts during premiere week.
And while the original rumor suggested Leavitt could have a more permanent future on the show, it comes after reports last month suggested The View was easing back on hosting political guests after the FCC launched an investigation involving the program and ABC. The investigation followed the show's appearance by then-Texas Democratic Senate primary candidate James Talarico, which raised questions surrounding the equal-time rule.

Republicans all over the internet and social media had plenty to say when the original report suggested Leavitt could join The View after leaving the White House, with some excited by the prospect of her taking on the panelists, and others thinking the show was beneath her.
"Don't do it. You have way more class than that [expletive] show," said one X user. "She would lose all respect being on that show," agreed a second, as a third echoed: "It would be so beneath her to associate with these morally and intellectually void characters."
"I would lose respect for her if she accepts that. They don't deserve to have her on there, they would never let her express her views properly, and they would dog pile on her. That or she'd sell out. Either way I hope she doesn't do it," said a fourth.
"That would be horrible downgrade on a job," added a fifth, as a sixth said it would be the "worst decision ever." "I don't think she'd stoop that low," said a seventh.
Others were excited about the prospect, with one writing: "How great would it be to watch Karoline take down these clowns every day?" "She would eviscerate those ridiculous clowns," agreed a second.
The feeling was much the same in the comments section of a Fox News article about the rumors. "She will mop the floor with them when she's done," one person predicted. "She'd wipe the floor with them in the first five minutes," a second agreed.
"She would completely eviscerate the women on The View and eat them alive," a third wrote, as a fourth said: "I would love to see her on that show because those 5 "witches" will try to corner her while she chews them up spits them out."
Others weren't so keen on the idea of Leavitt appearing on the ABC talk show at all. "Why walk into that nest of vipers?" a fifth asked. "Stay clear of this mess, Karoline. Raise your family," advised a sixth, as a seventh declared: "She's better than that."
