Carrie Underwood marked a major career milestone with her historic debut at Tanglewood Music Center in Lenox, Massachusetts, on Saturday, August 29.
The country superstar performed a sold-out concert as part of Tanglewood’s Popular Artist series, bringing her signature style to the stage for the highly anticipated show.
The American Idol judge embraced her rock-inspired aesthetic for the performance, wearing a bedazzled black leather jacket covered in blue and purple lettering and designs. The jacket also featured Dolly Parton’s initials along with one of the late country icon’s most memorable sayings: “Find out who you are and do it on purpose.”

Underneath the statement jacket, Underwood wore a black tank top embellished with silver sparkles and paired it with light-wash, baggy denim jeans. She completed the look with her hair styled in loose, beachy curls as she performed some of her biggest hits.
The concert also became an emotional moment for Underwood as she honored Parton, who died on August 25, 2026.
The 43-year-old was among the many stars who admired Parton throughout her career, and she paid tribute to her friend on Instagram shortly after her death. Sharing several photos of the pair together, Underwood wrote a deeply personal message about the country legend.
“She’s not gone. I know exactly where she is. She was the epitome of faith, grace, talent, beauty and humor. She had a humble heart for Jesus and made everyone around her feel special,” she wrote.
Underwood continued, “She was probably the one person on planet Earth that everyone loved and could agree on. She was a one of one and no one will ever come close.”
“It’s alright to be sad that this world lost a legend, but heaven gained an angel. Well done, good and faithful Dolly. Welcome home,” she added.

Underwood and Parton shared several memorable moments throughout their careers. The two country stars performed a powerful duet of Parton’s signature song “I Will Always Love You” during Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special in 2009.
A decade later, they reunited on one of country music’s biggest nights when they co-hosted the 53rd Annual Country Music Association Awards in 2019 alongside Reba McEntire.
Underwood’s emotional tribute at Tanglewood offered another poignant reminder of the bond she shared with Parton as she celebrated both a career milestone and the legacy of one of country music’s most beloved stars.
